music use guidelines update

new guideline added: my music is not to be used on tiktok

apart from tiktok being a mind-destroying force, every time something of mine gets used on their i get stuck in bullshit legal back and forth as people upload it to distributors, get it put on spotify, etc. this isn't just a pain in my ass, but it prevents people from using my work freely in the future, as they will face claims on their work. this is what is ultimately unacceptable about this. there are always going to be shitheads, but to infringe on so many other peoples' free use of the things they enjoy is absolutely bullshit.

new back catalog feature: album streaming

the backcat now allows for streaming of (almost) everything on it! just go to an album's page and click play or click a track. if you want to share a track with somebody, just right click the name, copy it, and paste the link. the shared link will automatically highlight the track when visited, and will play that track upon pressing play.

i'm not satisfied with YT being the easiest way to share my stuff with a friend quickly, since you have to deal with YT's everything (ads, bandwidth, resource usage, having to find a good upload, etc). everything on here is ~96-112kbps OPUS format - so your browser does need to support that (most currently do) - which is perfect for quick streams, low-bandwidth background music, and so on.

there may be errors. they'll get sorted over time. also, a number of albums weren't indexing properly prior (omicron complex and others) - they are now indexing properly.

the back catalog has been updated with a "HAS DIY" checkbox. the DIY PDF download links are under each album. if you click the ? next to that link, you'll be brought to a page with some simple instructions, a template you can make your own with at the bottom, and so on. currently, 25 albums have DIY patterns for printing, and i'll be adding more in the future... please have fun!

this is hopefuilly the last major fix patch and comes with a bunch of fun rebalancing now that i've been able to observe how people play. dynamic difficulty adjustments mean that it should be slightly more accessible for beginner players, while people playing on the hardest difficulty will be brutalized in exciting ways. this update will clear some of your game stats but WILL NOT erase any of your actual progress!! only per-level records will be wiped due to the amount of changes made. the game will warn you when you visit "home."

what it says on the tin. every last bit of it is available for free. making all of this freely available would not be possible without the ongoing support from patreon, bandcamp, and youtube, and i appreciate said continued support beyond words.

i figure some people don't want to deal with bandcamp, or really any friction between themselves and having some files on their computer, and this is the best way to accomodate that, as well as be incluse of those that cannot afford downloads, live in countries where they are inaccessible. etc.

as new paid albums come out, there will be a window in which they will only be on bandcamp, youtube, etc. after that, the downloads will be freely available here.

a file handling update has also been rolled out: downloaded files will now be formatted as "Alias - Album [Format].zip" rather than the short filenames used previously. if you still need the short filenames, you can right click and copy the download links.

thank you, and enjoy.
